Importing Grades from Gradekeeper®

Select your Exporting/Importing procedure:

Grade Records - Single Class (Export to TeacherWeb® option in Gradekeeper®)

Grades Web Pages - Single Class (Export to Web option in Gradekeeper®)

Grades Web Pages - Multiple Classes (Multiple Class Report option in Gradekeeper®)

  • Exporting/Importing Grade Records - Single Class (Export to TeacherWeb® option)
    • This option requires Gradekeeper® 5.8 or higher - to update your software if needed, visit the Gradekeeper® website.

    • Open your gradebook file in Gradekeeper® and make sure that each student has his or her own unique ID#.  If you do not see the ID#'s when you check your gradebook file, select "Show Name and ID" in the Gradebook Menu.

    • Select "Export to TeacherWeb®..." in the File Menu. Give your file a name (such as Grades.txt), choose a location and click "Save".

    • To import your grades, go to your Update Grades page and select "I want to import a file I have created, or a file that my gradebook exported".  If "Gradekeeper Text Export" is not already selected in the "How would you like to load your Grades information" drop-down box, select it.

    • Make sure "First Row in File contains important header information" is checked, select the exported text file from Gradekeeper® and click "Upload File".  Your grades will be imported and an "Import Succeeded" message will be displayed at the bottom of the page.

  • Exporting/Importing Grades Web Pages - Single Class (Export to Web option)
    • Open your gradebook file in Gradekeeper® and select "Export to Web..." from the File Menu.  On the resulting screen, select the default: "Create a web site with a web page for each student...", and press OK.

    • In the next window, where it asks "Do you want to include student names?", select "No".  Then, in the "Choose Folder" window, create a new folder/directory and press "Save".

    • To import your grades, go to your Update Grades page and first click "Reset Gradebook to Default" (if that option is visible on the page).  Then, select "I want to upload the web files my gradebook creates for me", wait for the folder upload window to load and select Gradekeeper® from the "How would you like to load your Grades information" drop-down box.

    • Click the "Add" button, use the mouse to select the folder on your computer that contains all of the exported files from Gradekeeper® and click "OK" (do not press "Open").  Click "Upload" and wait until a "Your grades have been saved" message appears at the bottom of the page.

    • When you return to your Grades page, the original page will be replaced with your imported Gradekeeper® web pages.  To import a new set of grades, go to your Update Grades page by clicking the "Update" link for your Grades page on your Update Index.

    • If you are using Mac OS X, it is currently necessary to use Safari 4 (or higher) or Firefox 3 (or higher) to import your grades.

  • Exporting/Importing Grades Web Pages - Multiple Classes (Multiple Class Report option)
    • If you would like to export/import grades for more than one class to your site, you can use either of the "Single Class" options listed above to import the grades for each class into a separate Grades page.  Alternatively, you can use the following procedure to export the grades for all of your classes as a single set of files, and then import those files to a single Grades page on your site.

    • To export grades for multiple classes, open Gradekeeper® and select "Multiple Class Report..." from the Reports menu.  Select the gradebook files for all of your classes and click "Open".

    • Choose "Export to Web..." from the File menu.  In the next window, where it asks "Do you want to include student names?", select "No".
